Our Play Leaders!
When our children reach Year 5 and 6, they have the opportunity to become Play Leaders.
Our Play Leaders run lunch time games and activities on the school field and in the playground for all of our children.
The initiative is designed to:
- Involve all children in group games
- To ensure playtimes are fun and enjoyable
- Develop skills in responsibility and leadership
- Provide all children the opportunity to work with and play with children of all ages.
- Introduce new games and initiatives
Leaders meet once a fortnight with Mrs France to design new games and sports activities. Some sports leaders are involved in the design process where they are responsible for thinking through rules of play and others choose to organise equipment.
Each year, the current Sports Leaders are involved in a transition period in which they pass on their skills to train Year 5 children who have applied to be leaders the following year.
