  • British science week

Fri 15 Mar 2019 Mrs Roberts
British Science Week - Engaging the wider school community.

We were awarded a grant by the British Science Association to help us to include our wider school community in raising the profile of science at our school. KS2 enjoyed watching 'The Science of Magic', a show by Science Oxford, with their parents to end our British Science week celebrations. Although the show was great fun, the most important message to take away was to keep asking questions. We really encourage our children to be curious and engage in asking 'Big Questions'. It is our aim to raise the science capital of our children by maintaining interest and engagement in both school and home life. Children with a higher science capital tend to feel that places like Science museums and careers in STEM subjects can be 'for them' and are more likely to pursue science in later life, either through work or as a hobby.

We have had a super day today with the RAF STEM team. The children have been using their science, technology, engineering  and maths knowledge to design and create rockets, programme robots, create structures, and much more. Thank you so much to all the officers from RAF Benson who came to school to talk about their roles and support the children in their activities. It was a truly wonderful day.
  • Visit to the Cathedral and Mosque

Fri 08 Mar 2019 Mrs Roberts

We had an amazing trip to the Oxford Mosque and Christchurch Cathedral. We learned all about Muslim prayer from the Imam and the different ways Muslims show their love for God. We were able to ask questions and learn about the Mosque as a special place for Muslim worship. Then we visited Christchurch Cathedral at Christchurch College. We were in awe of the beautiful stained glass windows and interested to learn the stories each one told. We also heard the story of St. Frideswide and how she bought the Christian church to Oxford.
