  • Football Tournament Aston Rowant V Ickford

Fri 26 May 2017 Mrs Roberts
Proud Head Teacher again this evening. Our footballers showed such tremendous determination and superb team spirit during our friendly football match against Ickford school. Our school field really lends itself to football matches at home and we hope to be hosting more games in the future. It was a tense and very close game but lovely to see our footballers enjoy and celebrate their win by the end of the match. Thank you to everyone who came to cheer on both teams. Well done everyone!

  • Heatree

Wed 24 May 2017 Mrs Roberts
I am soooo excited. I love taking the children on a residential. Our children are a real pleasure to take. I get such a buzz from watching them work together as a team on activities they wouldn't normally get the opportunity to do. Heatree is a fantastic centre with beautiful grounds for the children to learn and explore. Kit Lists have now been sent out ready for the holidays so that the children can start to organise themselves and get themselves excited too!
  • Chelsea Flower Show

Fri 19 May 2017 Mrs Roberts
I thought that title might make you look! If only the Chelsea flower show were open to school gardens. Now that is a thought! Gardening at Aston Rowant is a real passion of many of the staff in school. The children learn so much about planting seeds, growing seedlings and watching them grow. It really is magical. Our garden and planters look amazing at the moment and the sun has really brought out the blooms. The sun bubble is up again this year and is bringing on the seedlings nicely. Look out for our sunflowers. They are going to be full of smiles this year!
  • Our amazing PTA

Mon 15 May 2017 Mrs Roberts
There are so many financial pressures on schools budgets at the moment. The news is quite depressing and the thought that we could have our budgets cut even further by 2020 is one of the many things I think about at 'silly o'oclock' in the morning! For small rural schools like us it is even more important that we have a really active PTA. We are so lucky at Aston Rowant because we have such a wonderful dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly to raise money for our school. Without these funds we wouldn't be able to buy some of our basic equipment and resources let alone items off our wish list! We are currently fundraising to improve our outdoor learning and to work towards replacing our soft play area. if you are able to help with any aspects of the PTA please contact Pavlina Newman our Chair of PTA at the school office.
  • Year 6 SATs

Fri 12 May 2017 Mrs Roberts
Our Year 6 children have excelled themselves again this year. They have worked so hard during our booster sessions together and really have taken their learning seriously. They have demonstrated real determination during the tests to do the best they can. It has been a pleasure to watch them concentrate. I have very mixed feelings about SATs week. On the one hand statutory assessment is essential in measuring each child's progress during their primary years but all of our children have so many special qualities and strengths in a million areas of the curriculum; achievements that SPAG test results would never show on one day at the beginning of May! I always tell the children that!
