  • Reaching out

Fri 27 Apr 2018 Mrs Roberts

We are committed to creating an environment that supports mental well being in all of our children and adults within our school community with a special emphasis on self care, effective communication and the promotion of social and emotional growth. Many sufferers of depression often look to the support found in their spiritual communities, in literature or in their own network of friends and neighbours. There are many useful organisations in our area that can help with symptoms of mental health. Please follow the link below for how to contact various organisations. I have also included some wonderful picture books to share with young children and teens who may be at risk of developing mental health problems or for families who are struggling.

We would like to reach out to families who may be struggling with mental health issues. Mrs Roberts and her staff are always available should you wish to speak to someone in confidence.

  • Demonstratiing determination and superb team spirit.

Fri 27 Apr 2018 Mrs Roberts
This week our Year 5 and 6 children have been taking part in a partnership football tournament. In true Aston Rowant style our children demonstrated pure determination and respect for all. We are always so proud of the way the children conduct themselves while taking part in events such as these. They always demonstrate such superb team spirit. Well done to everyone who took part.
  • Children Leading

Fri 27 Apr 2018 Mrs Roberts
We encourage children to take on leadership roles within school and our wider community. Many of our children lead a scout group or a captain a sports team outside of school. Our school councillors make valuable contributions to the ethos and vision of our school. Our whole school council meetings provide opportunities for our children to lead on subjects that are important to them within school. This develops self esteem, a sense of belonging and identity and they feel their contributions to the leadership of our school are respected and valued by all.
  • Working towards our vision

Fri 20 Apr 2018 Mrs Roberts

Our vision is to develop children to be happy and ambitious life-long learners through a nurturing, inspiring and bespoke learning environment, for God so loves the world.

'For God so loves the world' is taken from John's Gospel Chapter 3 V 16 and from the first letter of John Chapter 4 V 11.

Over the past few months we have been evaluating our school vision statement to ensure that it reflects our distinctively Christian ethos and core values. Staff and Governors have worked together to define what this vision statement means for us as a small rural school and more importantly, how this impacts our children's academic and spiritual growth.

It is important for us to ensure that the children understand what it means to belong to Aston Rowant School and that they each feel this sense of belonging as a foundation for their future lives.

All of our children are nurtured, encouraged to achieve their full potential and to flourish in every area of life. Our vision for the school ensures that we are also developing their spiritual awareness so that they can develop an open mindedness to other people's feelings and the world around them and that they have a true sense of self.

Spirituality for us is about always learning, noticing and experiencing new things so that we can find awe and wonder in the smallest things both within our beautiful school grounds and within the wider world. Our aim is for the children to become deep thinkers, open hearted and open to possibilities. Our growth mind-set philosophy is building on the ability to learn by failing and the children are accepting challenge as a means to develop new academic and social skills. It is lovely to see the children building relationships, learning to love and understanding that they too are loved 'for God so loves the world.'
