Every year, we hold a wholeschool RE Enrichment Week — a treasured opportunity for deep spiritual reflection, creativity, and community engagement.
2025 – Journeys of Hope (Easter/Theology Focus)
A powerful week exploring Holy Week and the message of hope.
- EYFS: Easter Gardens and sensory story journeys
- KS1: Holy Week story maps and moving emptytomb crafts
- LKS2: Road to Emmaus drama, freezeframes, hope lanterns
- UKS2: Symbolism, theology, reflective writing & collaborative art
All work was celebrated in our wholeschool gallery: “Journeys of Hope: Our Easter Story”
2024 – Courageous Advocacy (Justice & Action)
Theme inspired by Proverbs 31:89.
Children learned what it means to stand up for justice:
- Hedgehog: Energy efficiency campaign
- Squirrel: Supporting SharingLife Foodbank
- Fox: National Road Safety campaign
- Owl: Global peace and justice work through The Olive Tree Project, including involvement from our local MP
A week of deep thinking, compassion and action.
2023 – Exploring Prayer
Classes explored prayer creatively through:
- Fizzy prayers
- Lego prayers
- Prayer plates
- Prayer cups
- Contemplative spaces and outdoor prayer garden
The week connected to RE units such as “Does God Communicate with Man?” and “Does Prayer Change Things?”
2022 – Holy Week (WholeSchool Study)
Each class explored a part of Holy Week:
- Hedgehog: Palm Sunday
- Squirrel: Good Friday
- Fox: Maundy Thursday
- Owl: Easter Sunday
Activities included bread making, foot washing, cross making and recreating the empty tomb.
RE at Aston Rowant: A Place to Flourish
Religious Education at our school enables children to:
- Understand Christianity deeply
- Respect and appreciate diverse world views
- Reflect on the big questions of life
- Develop moral courage and compassion
- Grow spiritually, emotionally and academically
RE matters - and our children thrive because of it.
