Geography
At Aston Rowant, Geography is an exciting, enquiry-led subject that nurtures children’s curiosity, deepens their understanding of the world and builds their sense of place within God’s creation. Our beautiful setting - surrounded by woodland, meadows, the Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve and the local Sculpture Trail - provides a living classroom where children explore landscapes, habitats, maps and fieldwork first-hand.
We teach Geography through the Kapow Primary scheme, ensuring that every pupil receives a well-sequenced, knowledge-rich curriculum that builds progressively from EYFS to Year 6. Through fieldwork, map skills, outdoor exploration, and global learning, children become confident geographers who can observe, investigate and interpret the world around them.
Our Geography curriculum is enriched by:
- Weekly nature walks
- Regular orienteering and navigation sessions
- Forest School learning embedded across the school
- Local environment studies in an AONB
- Cross-curricular projects, including Geography through World Book Day 2026 (“Me on the Map”)
- Opportunities to explore real-world issues such as sustainability, climate, and global responsibility
Geography at Aston Rowant inspires children to see the wonder in God's world and empowers them to become responsible, thoughtful global citizens.
