Facilities Development
At Aston Rowant School, the development of our facilities is a practical expression of our Christian vision:
“Growing together, rooted in God’s love, enjoying fullness of life.”
We believe that high‑quality learning environments play a vital role in children’s wellbeing, inclusion, safety and achievement. Over recent years, improvements to the school site have been carefully planned to ensure our facilities are welcoming, inclusive, sustainable and fit for the future.
A Strategic Approach (2023–2026)
Since 2023, a phased programme of facilities development has taken place, guided by safeguarding requirements, pupil needs (including SEND and wellbeing), site condition reviews and responsible financial planning. To avoid disrupting learning the works were carried out over the summer holidays.
Key Improvements
2023: Safe, Inclusive and Welcoming Spaces
In 2023, a number of important improvements were completed to enhance pupils’ everyday experience:
- Refurbishment of the main block toilets, promoting dignity, comfort and wellbeing
- Redecoration of shared areas, with valuable support from our Governors
- Installation of an outdoor trim trail to encourage physical activity and enjoyment
- Creation of The Rainbow Room, a dedicated breakout and teaching space used for SEND support, 1:1 intervention and pastoral care
The Rainbow Room was named by the children and reflects our belief that every child is unique, valued and supported to flourish.
2025: Strengthening Physical Development and Safety
In Spring 2025, a new outdoor gym was installed to promote healthy, active lifestyles, confidence and cooperative play.
During Summer 2025, major improvement works included:
- Full reroofing of the main building, with added insulation and skylights
- New perimeter fencing to strengthen safeguarding
- Extended EYFS outdoor groundworks
- An upgraded fire alarm system
- New hall flooring funded directly by the school
These works were carefully managed to ensure learning continued smoothly and communication with families kept clear and timely.
2026: Rapid Response and Investment
In early 2026, further improvements strengthened site safety and infrastructure:
- Replacement of the handbell alert with a fully integrated modern fire alarm system
- Swift identification and repair of a roof issue in Fox Class, bringing planned works forward to prevent further damage
This project included:
- A new sewage treatment plant
- New roofing, ceilings and external cladding
- Energy‑efficient classroom lighting
- Modernised infrastructure across the main teaching block
Our Impact
These improvements have created:
- Safe, modern and inclusive learning environments
- Enhanced wellbeing, confidence and readiness to learn
