d. Mental Health and Wellbeing
We place a strong emphasis on supporting pupils’ mental health and emotional wellbeing, recognising that children learn best when they feel safe, valued and supported. Our approach helps pupils to understand their emotions, develop effective coping strategies and build positive relationships with others.
Children are taught to recognise and talk about their feelings and to understand how to care for both themselves and those around them. Mental health and wellbeing are embedded across daily school life rather than treated as a discrete or occasional focus.
Wellbeing is supported through:
- A positive, nurturing school culture where pupils feel listened to and respected
- PSHE lessons focusing on emotions, relationships, self‑care and confidence
- Calm routines and regular opportunities for reflection
- Daily physical activity, including The Daily Mile and Skip to Be Fit
