a. Why Safeguarding Is Effective at Aston Rowant

Safeguarding at Aston Rowant is effective because:

  • Staff are well trained, vigilant and confident to identify and report concerns
  • Clear systems are in place for recording, reporting and responding to safeguarding concerns
  • Safeguarding concerns are acted upon promptly, with appropriate escalation where required
  • Strong relationships ensure pupils feel safe to talk to trusted adults
  • Safeguarding is regularly discussed and reviewed by leaders and governors
  • Families are engaged and supported as partners wherever appropriate
  • The school works proactively with external agencies to ensure pupils receive the right help at the right time

Safeguarding is not treated as a standalone process; it is part of the school’s daily culture, routines and expectations.

External Safeguarding Review

Our safeguarding practice was reviewed in March 2026 through an ESAT Safeguarding Advisory Review. The review confirmed that safeguarding is well embedded within the school’s culture, with strong leadership, effective systems, knowledgeable staff and pupils who feel safe and supported.

The review identified no safeguarding actions requiring immediate intervention. Recommendations focused on strengthening recording and documentation, which is part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.
