  • Story club for quieter children
  • Mini sports tournaments

  • Maintain playground equipment and ensure it is used safely

They rotate their daily duties at break and lunch.

Why This Role Matters

Play Leaders help ensure our playground is a happy, active and welcoming place for everyone. Through their leadership, playtimes become safer, more inclusive and more purposeful. They model kindness, cooperation and problem-solving, helping younger children build friendship skills and confidence. Play Leaders also support positive behaviour by preventing isolation and gently de-escalating small disagreements. Their influence transforms playtime into a space where every child feels they belong.
