School Council
Welcome to our School Council
Our School Council represents the voice of every child in our school. We work together to make our school the best it can be - a place where everyone feels safe, valued, listened to, and able to flourish.
Each representative has been chosen by their class through a democratic vote. This teaches us about fairness, leadership and responsibility, as well as supporting our understanding of British Values, especially Democracy, Mutual Respect, and Individual Liberty.
Our Vision
We want every child to feel proud of our school and confident that their ideas matter.
We work together to:
- Represent all pupils and make sure every voice is heard
- Support our GROWTH values in everything we do
- Improve our school environment
- Promote wellbeing, safety and kindness
- Support whole‑school events, celebrations and charity work
- Help our community flourish
We are committed to modelling good behaviour, teamwork, and respect.
Our GROWTH Values in Action
The School Council champions the values that shape our school:
- Gratitude – appreciating others
- Resilience – never giving up
- Outreach – helping others
- Wonder – being curious learners
- Trust – being honest and reliable
- Harmony – working together kindly
Every meeting includes reflection on how we have lived out these values and how we can encourage them across the school.
What We Do
Throughout the year, the School Council:
- Gathers ideas and suggestions from every class
- Helps plan and evaluate school events
- Works with teachers, the Headteacher and Governors
- Supports SIAMS and Ofsted by sharing pupil perspectives
- Promotes wellbeing, safety and inclusion
- Leads fundraising and courageous advocacy projects
- Helps improve learning, play, and school life for everyone
We believe pupil voice should shape our school, not just be heard.
How We Listen to Pupils
Every class has a Pupil Voice Book where children can share:
- Suggestions
- Improvements
- Worries or questions
- Positive feedback
Representatives bring these ideas to meetings and help take actions back to their year groups.
This ensures every child has a chance to speak and be listened to.
Our Promise
As your School Council, we promise to:
- Listen carefully
- Speak honestly
- Represent fairly
- Communicate clearly
- Work respectfully
- Make decisions that help everyone
We are here to serve our school community with kindness, courage and integrity.
Meetings
We meet at least every half term to discuss:
- Pupil voice and feedback
- School improvement ideas
- Events and curriculum weeks
- Wellbeing and safeguarding
- Leadership and responsibilities
- Updates for Governors and school leaders
Minutes are written and shared on the School Council board so everyone can stay informed.
Working With School Leaders
Our work is supported by:
- Mrs France
- Class Teachers
- School Governors
We help them understand what children think, feel and need - a vital part of school improvement.
