Buddy Pairings

• Year 3 → Reception (YR)
• Year 4 → Year 1
• Year 5 → Year 2
• Year 6 oversee, coordinate and provide backup support

• Support playtimes and transitions
• Encourage confidence and independence
• Build secure relationships across year groups
• Model positive behaviour and kindness
• Buddies are adored by the younger children and help build our family-like atmosphere.

Why This Role Matters

Buddies help create the warm, family feel that our school is known for. They support younger pupils as they settle into routines, make friends and grow in confidence. Buddies model kindness, responsibility and patience, establishing secure cross-year friendships that last for years. Their influence helps younger children feel safe, supported and part of the school community. This role builds empathy and nurtures a caring ethos across the whole school.
