d. School Council Representatives (Years 1–6)
Each class from Year 1 to Year 6 elects one representative through a democratic vote - a clear example of British Values in action.
Why This Is a Leadership Role
- Councillors listen to their classmates’ ideas, questions and concerns
- They bring feedback to regular School Council meetings
- They share information back with their classes
- They work with Mrs France, visitors and governors
- They lead events, support fundraising, meet inspectors and shape school improvement
Why This Role Matters
School Council Representatives give pupils a powerful voice in shaping their school. They model democracy, active citizenship and responsibility. By gathering ideas from classmates and bringing them to meetings, councillors show leadership, fairness and communication skills. They help influence school improvement, meet visitors and governors, and represent the views of their peers with maturity. Their role demonstrates that pupils are partners in shaping school life - not passengers.
