c. Librarians (Upper Key Stage 2)

Our Librarians are passionate readers who help keep our library a vibrant, organised and inspiring space.

What Librarians Do:

  • Help maintain and organise the library environment
  • Recommend books to younger children
  • Create themed displays (e.g., poetry corner, author of the month, nature books)
  • Support younger pupils in choosing and checking out books
  • Run pop-up storytime or lunchtime reading clubs
  • Help with stock rotation and book returns
  • Contribute ideas to improve library spaces
  • Promote reading events such as World Book Day

Why This Role Matters

Librarians enrich the reading culture of our school by helping pupils discover new authors, enjoy new genres and develop lifelong reading habits. They make the library an organised, inviting and inspiring place to be. Their leadership encourages children to read more widely, take pride in looking after books and engage in rich conversations about stories. Librarians play a key role in helping the library become the beating heart of the school.
