l. Safeguarding Training & Awareness
Safeguarding training is essential to maintaining a vigilant and knowledgeable staff team. In line with statutory requirements in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025, all staff receive annual safeguarding training, ensuring they remain up to date with current legislation, procedures and emerging risks.
Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) undertake specialist DSL training every two years, and all newly appointed staff complete safeguarding induction as part of their onboarding. Regular in-year updates ensure that staff remain aware of changes to legislation or local safeguarding priorities.
We also participate in OSCB (Oxfordshire Safeguarding Children Partnership) training, briefings and annual safeguarding audits, ensuring our school’s safeguarding culture remains aligned with local multi-agency standards and continuous improvement priorities. Through this ongoing programme of professional learning, we maintain a highly informed, confident and accountable workforce.
All staff, including teaching staff, support staff, volunteers and governors, receive regular safeguarding training, which includes:
- Child protection and abuse awareness
- Online safety
- Prevent duty
- Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) updates
- Recognising signs of vulnerability, neglect or harm
Staff understand how to:
- Report concerns using school safeguarding systems
- Escalate concerns if they feel further action is needed
- Maintain professional curiosity and act in the best interests of pupils
Staff know that it is better to report a concern that turns out to be insignificant than to miss something important.
