Our Community

Being at the heart of a small village is one of our greatest strengths as a school. Our long history here means we have grown up with the community, and for generations the school has been a place of welcome, connection and shared purpose. We are proud to serve a village that values its heritage, its people and the relationships that bind us together.

At the same time, we are equally proud of our links with the wider local area. Our pupils benefit from strong partnerships with neighbouring schools, local organisations, and the broader community beyond the village. Together, these connections enrich our curriculum, broaden our children’s experiences and help them recognise their place within a much larger world.

Why our Community Matters

Being part of a close‑knit community teaches children the importance of belonging, responsibility and mutual respect. It enables them to see themselves as contributors, not just recipients, and helps them understand the positive impact they can have on others. Our community partnerships strengthen our curriculum, our pastoral work and our shared values -ensuring that children grow not only academically, but socially and morally.

A Growing Village – Opportunities and Challenges

While our position at the end of the village brings enormous benefits, we also recognise that the village has grown significantly around us over time. With this growth have come new challenges, particularly relating to increased traffic and parking during busy school periods. We acknowledge this openly and sensitively.

We have developed a Travel Plan, and we continue to collaborate closely with parents, carers and local residents to find safe, respectful and workable solutions to any issues that may arise. Our aim is always to minimise disruption, promote safe travel, and ensure that our presence in the village remains positive for everyone.

Our Links with St Peter and St Paul’s Church

Our partnership with St Peter and St Paul's Church is a longstanding and treasured one. We join the church community for key services and events throughout the year, including the Patronal Festival and other significant celebrations in the church calendar. Our regular school services at the church give pupils the opportunity to explore spirituality, reflect together and feel part of something bigger than themselves. Find out more here.

Sharing Our Story with the Community

Every two months, the Headteacher contributes an article to the parish magazine, sharing news, celebrating achievements and highlighting upcoming events. It is a wonderful way to keep the whole community informed about school life. If you have missed any recent editions, copies of all articles can be found here.

Working Together for Our Children

Whether through volunteering, attending events, supporting learning at home or simply being a friendly face at the school gate, our community plays a vital role in helping our pupils thrive. We are grateful for this ongoing partnership and remain committed to working together - openly, respectfully and with shared ambition - for the benefit of all our children.
