SEND & Inclusion

At Aston Rowant CE Primary School, we believe every child is unique, valued and capable of achieving great things. Our role is to ensure that all pupils—including those with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND)—feel supported, included, and able to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

We follow the statutory duties set out in the SEND Code of Practice, which requires schools to publish clear information about how we identify, assess and support pupils with SEND and how we put our SEND Policy into practice. We also ensure parents can easily access details of our provision and find the right help when they need it.

Our Approach to Inclusion

Inclusion is at the heart of our school ethos. Our teaching, routines and environment are designed so that every learner can take part fully in school life.

We use the graduated approach (Assess–Plan–Do–Review) required by national SEND guidance to ensure every child receives the right level of support, at the right time. Our SEND Information Report explains how this approach works in our setting and how we implement our SEND Policy in practice.

We work in close partnership with children, families, staff and specialist professionals to create an environment where all learners feel safe, confident and empowered.

What You Will Find on Our SEND & Inclusion Pages

These pages are designed to help families understand our provision and find support quickly and easily.

• Support in Our School

How we provide Universal (Wave 1), Targeted (Wave 2) and Specialist (Wave 3) support; details of interventions, staff expertise, and how we listen to pupils’ voices.

• Parent Guidance & FAQs

Clear information about how to raise concerns, what to expect from SEND support, transition arrangements, and signposting to local and national services.

• Our SEND Policy & SEND Information Report

Statutory documents explaining the systems we use, the support available in school, and how we work with families and external professionals. Schools must publish both documents and review them annually.

• Accessibility Plan

Our plan for improving access to the curriculum, physical environment and information, which all schools must publish under the Equality Act

• Local Authority Local Offer

A link to the Oxfordshire Local Offer, which schools are legally required to provide so families can view local SEND services and support.

Working Together

We believe that the best outcomes for children happen when staff, families and pupils work together. A key expectation of the SEND Information Report is that families are fully involved in planning and reviewing support, and this principle guides everything we do.

Whether your child already receives additional support, may be showing signs of emerging needs, or you simply want more information, we are here to help.
