Reading Journals 

Our Reading Journals help to strengthen the partnership between home and school. Children regularly record their reading, reflect on books and share their thoughts about what they have read. Reading Journals encourage meaningful conversations about reading and celebrate the progress children make as readers. 

Reading Keys 

We celebrate reading through our Reading Keys reward system. Children are recognised for their commitment to reading and for achieving important milestones on their reading journey. The Reading Keys system motivates children, builds confidence and encourages positive reading habits both at school and at home. 

Monthly Reading Challenges 

Each month, children are invited to take part in a reading challenge which is shared through our school newsletter. Challenges are designed to encourage children to explore new books, authors and reading experiences while having fun. These activities help maintain enthusiasm for reading throughout the year and encourage families to become involved too. 

Book Reviews 

Reading recommendations are an important part of our reading culture. Each week, children and adults contribute book reviews to our school newsletter, sharing their favourite books and inspiring others to read them. These reviews help create a community of readers where children can discuss books and discover new reading opportunities. 

Family Reading 

We encourage families to make reading a regular part of home life. Whether sharing a bedtime story, listening to a child read or discussing a favourite book together, family reading plays a vital role in developing confidence, fluency and a lifelong love of reading.
