7. INDIVIDUAL PROJECTS Young Enterprise: The Authors’ Chair (Devon & Laila-Beth - Year 6)

Two Year 6 pupils developed their own enterprise project, independently running a stall after school for several weeks before Easter.

What They Did

  • Sourced materials
  • Created attractive items to sell
  • Organised pricing, marketing and staffing
  • Raised enough money to purchase a bespoke Author’s Chair, now built and awaiting installation

Why This Matters

These pupils demonstrated exceptional initiative, perseverance and independence. Their project shows how courageous advocacy can take the form of creative entrepreneurship that benefits the community.

They identified a need (a special space to honour reading and storytelling), planned a business, risk-assessed their product, remained committed for several weeks, and raised enough money to purchase a beautiful Author’s Chair that will enrich your school for years to come.

This project highlights:

  • Courage to begin something ambitious
  • Resilience through challenge
  • Service to the school community
  • Long-term legacy thinking
  • Confidence, teamwork and problem-solving

It demonstrates that our children become proactive agents of change - not passive recipients of education.
