British Values Day 2022 - Platinum Jubilee

Intent

The Platinum Jubilee provided a unique opportunity to celebrate public service, tradition and community, helping pupils understand how respect, unity and democracy shape national life.

Implementation

• Whole-school assembly on Queen Elizabeth II’s service and responsibility
• Jubilee-themed activities across all classes, including stamp and coin designs, timelines and creative crafts
• Maypole dancing, picnic games and bunting-making
• Democracy link: pupils voted on songs, activities or picnic menus
• Possible community involvement with families and local residents

Impact

Pupils gained understanding of public institutions and national heritage. They demonstrated respect for different viewpoints about the monarchy and worked collaboratively throughout the celebration. Activities strengthened intergenerational links and enhanced pupils’ sense of pride and belonging.
