British Values
At our school, we are committed to preparing pupils to become confident, respectful and active citizens who can thrive in modern Britain. We promote the fundamental British values of:
-
Democracy
-
The Rule of Law
-
Individual Liberty
-
Mutual Respect and Tolerance of Those with Different Faiths and Beliefs
These values are woven through our curriculum, our ethos and our daily school life. Pupils learn about them not only through lessons, but through practical experiences, leadership roles and the way we work together as a community.
⭐ British Values Days
Every year the whole school takes part in a dedicated British Values Day, where pupils from Reception to Year 6 work together in mixed age groups. The day provides meaningful opportunities for pupils to experience British values through:
-
Democracy: voting, shared decision-making and leadership
-
Rule of Law: fair play games and understanding why rules keep us safe
-
Individual Liberty: creative choice and self-expression
-
Mutual Respect & Tolerance: teamwork, story-based reflection and understanding differences
Our British Values Days take place each year with pupils developing a deeper understanding of fairness, responsibility, inclusion and respect each time.
📌 Summaries of each of our British Values Days can be found below.
🌱 Our Ongoing Commitment
Across the year, we promote British values through:
-
Curriculum links in PSHE, RE, assemblies and thematic learning
-
Pupil leadership opportunities including School Council, Eco Team and House Captains
-
Class charters, behaviour expectations and restorative conversations
-
Celebration of diversity, festivals, cultures and different viewpoints
-
Everyday interactions that model kindness, fairness and respect
This work forms a key part of our Personal Development curriculum and helps pupils understand how to contribute positively to school life and society.
