To generate curiosity about what we teach and allow it to take hold into something that becomes a passion for lifelong learning for all of our children. Openly involve them in their learning by meeting them where they are and then showing them where they can go exploring their interests, expanding upon their ideas, and engaging them in meaningful dialogue which encourages them to fully engage with owning and developing their own learning.

 

VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations 2025

We marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day. This major historical milestone provided a valuable opportunity to engage pupils in learning about World War II, remembrance, and British history. Whole school worship had a parent presentation from Mrs White, we made a human 80 on the field, followed by a range of VE Day classroom activities designed to spark curiosity, build knowledge, and bring history to life – helping our children understand the past in meaningful, age-appropriate ways. We ended with a tea party and sing song. A wonderful chance to come together as a school community to celebrate the peace and freedom that we enjoy today.  In the words of a Year 5 student, ‘the best day ever.’

Summer 2025 - Wasps nests!

When we had our new roof installed, lots of old wasps’ nests were found.  Some of our children and adults inspected the old honey bee nest (which was huge!) and wondered at God’s awesome creation.  How is something so critical to a wasp's life be so fragile to our human hands and so beautiful to our eyes?  We even got to use the nest for inspiration in our Forest Friday lessons!
