We might still be in a lockdown, but World Book Day is still going ahead! Book tokens have been ordered and there are some fantastic authors featured this year, including: Tom Fletcher, Julia Donaldson, Derek Landy and Jonny Duddle. The tokens will be sent to you via email this year.
Next week is Reading Enrichment Week and teachers have organised fun, book based activities to do throughout the week. We also have two live sessions booked during the week with authors Michael Rosen and Jo Empson. These will be streamed live to the children who are in school, then a link will be sent out so they can be watched at home.
Also we would like to create a whole school display based on your favourite books. Your task in the afternoon of World Book Day is to either create a diorama or a tableau.
A diorama is a miniature three-dimensional scene. We would like you to create one based on a book you enjoy reading.
Use an old shoe box or something of a similar size and get creative. Don’t forget to put your name, class and title of the book on the back of your diorama. Please keep hold of your models and bring them in when you return to school.
A tableau is where a group of people or motionless figures represent a scene from a story. You might like to dress up as a favourite character and create a tableau of a scene from the story. You can use other members of your family and lots of props or if you’d like to be the other side of the camera go smaller and use teddies or even Lego to create the freeze frame. Remember that there needs to be enough clues in the tableau that we will be able to guess what your chosen book is. Then, take a picture and send it in to your teacher.
We look forward to an exciting week and to seeing all of your fabulous creations.
