Intent
Our Geography curriculum is designed to ensure that all pupils:
- Develop secure locational and place knowledge
- Understand key human and physical geographical processes
- Build strong geographical vocabulary
- Use maps, atlases, globes and fieldwork skills confidently
- Make sense of global issues such as sustainability and climate change
We want pupils to leave our school with both knowledge of the world and care for it.
Implementation – How Geography Is Taught
Geography is taught through:
- Carefully sequenced units that build knowledge progressively from EYFS to KS2
- Knowledge‑rich lessons supported by discussion, images, maps and real‑world examples
- Opportunities to compare places, environments and experiences
- Fieldwork and outdoor learning where possible
- Cross‑curricular links with science, English, maths and Eco education
Lessons encourage children to ask questions, think critically and make connections between local, national and global contexts.
