NATIONAL STORYTELLING WEEK 2021
January 30th - February 6th is National Storytelling Week. This fits in perfectly with our current whole school topic of ‘Storytellers’. As well as some planned activities within your classes, we will be holding our first Storytelling Competition!
HOW IT WORKS
This may be a short story you love (like The Gruffalo, Oi Dog or Owl Babies) or a traditional fairy tale (like Goldilocks and the Three Bears or Hansel and Gretel). It may be that you want to read the opening chapter of your favourite book or a chapter you think is particularly exciting. You might even like to read a story you have written yourself!
Will you video yourself read from the pages? Will you retell it without the book? Perhaps you could create your own Audio Book. Do you want to be behind the scenes and use puppets or teddies/toys to act the story out? The choice is yours!
Think about the expression you could use. Can you use different voices for characters or when a scene changes mood? Would action or movement make it more exciting to listen to? Will you wear anything special? Be creative and most importantly - HAVE FUN WITH IT!
Good Luck!
