Personal Development
At our school, personal development is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to developing the whole child, ensuring that every pupil is healthy, confident, curious and well prepared for life in modern Britain. We believe that personal development is not an add‑on, but an essential part of a high‑quality education that enables children to thrive both now and in the future.
Through a carefully planned and inclusive programme of learning, enrichment and everyday experiences, we support pupils’ physical health, mental wellbeing, character development, cultural awareness and aspirations. Our approach is intentional and progressive, ensuring that opportunities are not left to chance and that all pupils benefit, regardless of background or ability.
Personal development is woven through the curriculum, school routines and wider life of the school. From daily physical activity and wellbeing support, to rich enrichment experiences, leadership opportunities, clubs and celebrations of achievement, pupils are encouraged to develop resilience, empathy, independence and a strong sense of belonging. We place high value on promoting positive relationships, respect for diversity and shared values, helping pupils to understand themselves, others and the world around them.
Our aim is that every child leaves our school with the confidence, skills and attitudes they need to succeed in the next stage of their education and to take their place as thoughtful, responsible and respectful members of society.
Our approach to personal development begins with knowing every pupil as an individual. We take great pride in the fact that:
Every child is known and believed in at Aston Rowant… everyone here has big ideas. The headteacher cultivates an ambition for every child to achieve well with no limits placed.
