SEND & Inclusion

Welcome to SEND at Our School

At our school, we believe every child deserves to feel understood, supported, and valued. Our SEND ethos is rooted in inclusion, high aspirations, and partnership. We recognise that every learner is unique, and we are committed to working closely with families to ensure children with special educational needs and disabilities thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Parents and pupils are fully involved in shaping support and reviewing progress so that provision reflects their strengths, needs, and future aspirations.

Our aim is simple: to create an environment where all children feel safe, confident, and able to grow.

Our Approach – Clear, Parent‑Friendly Information

We understand that navigating SEND processes can feel overwhelming, so we work hard to make our systems transparent and accessible. Here’s what you can expect from us:

Early Identification & Support

We use clear processes for identifying needs and assessing pupils so we can respond quickly and collaboratively. Parents are fully involved in decisions and reviews, ensuring support aligns with your child’s needs and your family’s understanding.

High‑Quality Teaching for All

All pupils benefit from Quality First Teaching, and where needed, targeted (Wave 2) or personalised (Wave 3) interventions are available to support their learning and wellbeing.

Adaptations & Provision

We adapt our curriculum, teaching approaches, and environment to ensure that children with SEND are fully included in school life. This includes access to appropriate resources, technology, and specialist guidance when needed.

Transitions

Whether moving between year groups or preparing for secondary school, we work with families to plan smooth and supportive transitions.

Our Approach to Inclusion

Inclusion is at the heart of our school ethos. Our teaching, routines and environment are designed so that every learner can take part fully in school life.

We use the graduated approach (Assess–Plan–Do–Review) required by national SEND guidance to ensure every child receives the right level of support, at the right time. Our SEND Information Report explains how this approach works in our setting and how we implement our SEND Policy in practice.

We work in close partnership with children, families, staff and specialist professionals to create an environment where all learners feel safe, confident and empowered.

It is easy to spot an Aston Rowant pupil. The way they convey themselves to others is impressive. Pupils say it does not matter if a person looks different to another. They go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome.
